Why Tony Fontane? Since his death in 1974, Fontane’s memory lives primarily in the minds of those who knew him or heard him in concert. Millions more born since then are completely unfamiliar with the incredible story of his life and the enormous talent that at one time made him famous around the globe. Subsequently, this is the first official effort to reacquaint the world with the life and voice of this great man. |
The ‘Biography’ section gives a broad overview of Fontane’s life. A complete, full-length biography is in the works. Photos in the ‘Images’ section come from the Fontane family collection and the private collection of Fontane’s biographer. The ‘Music’ section offers the only three of Fontane's albums currently in compact disc form --The Songs of Haldor Lillenas, Tony Fontane Sings Songs from The Tony Fontane Story, and a rare CD recording of an album Fontane cut in his popular-music days in Sydney, Australia, Songs by the Fireside. |
